Uist with Friends

This past long weekend was spent on Uist with our friends Anne & Graeme Robertson.  The fantastic weather allowed for lots of photo opportunities as well as a lot of excellent birding (76 species in total including a sighting of a corncrake, corn bunting and several harriers and short-eared owls, five golden eagles at the same time and all the divers).  Perhaps I should have focused more on one thing rather than trying to combine both and as a result I didn't really have the best combination of lenses, and as always I found Uist very difficult to photograph effectively.  The vast vistas, enormous skies and seascapes make it very difficult to capture the scale of the landscape.  That being said I did manage to get some decent shots of the landscape, some poor-ish shots of birds and some close ups of Anne's garden plants.  Here is a selection of the best ones.
